This event is free for both in-person and virtual attendees. You may attend this event in-person event at MIDA Sentral or join us via Zoom. In-person seats are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. This event is open to the public.

Fizal has been with MITI since 1996 and current the Senior Director of the Industrial Development Division of MITI. The Industrial Development Division is responsible to formulate, review policies and strategies for development of the manufacturing sector such as, automotive, chemical and petroleum products, pharmaceutical and medical devices, electrical, electronics and ICT, llifestyle and new emerging industries. Faizal holds a degree from University of Northumbria, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
Senior consulting architect, enterprise technology strategy consulting expert, communication network, cloud computing, network security technology expert, smart city, smart park, smart government, city brain solution top architect.With nearly 20 years of working experience in the world’s top 500 companies in the ICT field, he is good at enterprise technology strategy decoding, technology strategy direction selection, and complex architecture technology projects, and is currently engaged in international cooperation in China’s semiconductor industry.
Wee Seng has over two decades of experience in the semiconductor industry, encompassing fab start-up, technology development, manufacturing, and senior leadership roles. Wee Seng now leads the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) in supportng the semiconductor industry by growing its talent pool, helping businesses grow, and advocating for an environmentally sustainable business strategy for the industry. He concurrently sits on several advisory committees, such as Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (SEEE), NTU’s School of Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP), as well as ESG’s Smart Manufacturing Technical Committee (SMTC) and Environment and Resources Standards Technical Committee for Energy. Wee Seng also plays an active role in supporting the community, and is a District Councillor for North East CDC.
Wee Seng holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University and a Masters (MSc) in Management of Technology from National University of Singapore.
CS Tan is the Group Vice President & General Manager for STMicroelectronics Muar and has held this position since joining the Company in 2013.
In his tenure, the ST Muar back-end plant has grown to be ST’s largest in terms of space, with an expanded range of technologies including advanced packages. In 2019, the ST Muar back-end plant received the Industry Excellence Award from Malaysia’s Prime Minister and was also recognized as a Lean Gold plant by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation.
CS started his career with National Semiconductor Penang and has an illustrious career spanning 32 years covering industries such as Semiconductor, Hard Disk Storage, and Electronics Manufacturing Services. His most recent appointments include General Manager of large MNC factories such as Flextronics and ON Semiconductor. Throughout his career, CS led various important manufacturing initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management, Reliability Centered Maintenance and more recently Industry 4.0 (Connected Manufacturing).
CS Tan was born in Penang, Malaysia in, and graduated with 1st Class Honours degree in Applied Physics from USM and subsequently obtained MBA with USM. He was also recently appointed as Adjunct Professor to the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in UTEM, Melaka and was recently awarded Honorary Doctor of Engineering by UTEM.
Mariana Vijil is Senior Economist at the World Bank, specialized on private sector development issues. She has worked in Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe as well as Latin America and the Caribbean regions, providing policy advice as well as developing and implementing projects on entrepreneurship, international trade, value chains development and green competitiveness.
Before joining the World Bank, Mariana was Deputy Head of the Trade Policy Department at the French Directorate General of the Treasury.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), and a Master degree from the Center for Studies and Research on International Development (CERDI). She authored World Bank Country Private Sector Diagnostics, and her research has been published in professional journals such as World Bank Economic Review, The World Economy and Environment and Development Economics; as well as in the book “Jobs and Growth, Brazil’s Productivity Agenda”.
Dato’ Yong Jin (YJ) Lim is the ex-Regional President of Plexus Corporation, a US-based Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) company for 14 years from 2007 to 2021.
Now Dato’ YJ is the Independent Board Director of Rapid Growth Technology (RGT).
Dato’ YJ has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from the University of Technology Malaysia and has worked in various industries such as semiconductors, hard-disk storage and medical industries.
Mr. Tay Kheng Chiong is presently the Group Managing Director of D&O Green Technologies Berhad which is the main holding company of Dominant Opto Technologies Sdn. Bhd. He holds an Honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, MBA, D.Eng Doctorate in Engineering and a chartered engineer in the UK’s Institution of Engineering and Technology. He has been named as Best CEOs in the magazine Focus Malaysia, December 2017.
Dr Sharbanom is a former lead consultant to the UNDP for the development of Malaysia’s SDG investors’ map, which was launched in June 2023.
While in the UK, where she obtained a PhD, she was involved in the UKCITE (UK Connected Intelligent Transport Environment) consortium, where she evaluated technologies for the connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) and explored their implications for existing infrastructure, regulations and environment.
She has also worked at IBM Malaysia, where she was seconded to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to manage projects under the Economic Transformation Programme.
